Robbins-Gioia Helped Lucent Technologies Structure an $80 Million Optical Fiber Project

When Lucent Technologies acquired specialty optical fiber manufacturer SpecTran Corp., Lucent needed to expand with construction and increased capacity so that it could produce a greater quantity of higher-margin, cutting-edge product in its newest facility.

Robbins-Gioia assessed the needs of the project and focused on planning and process, which helped Lucent manage this highly complex, 15-month project, involving six teams, multiple suppliers and vendors, more than 6,000 documents, and $80,000,000.

RESULT: The plan implemented by Robbin-Gioia brought variances down to plus or minus one week and plus or minus less than $100,000.
