Is Your Organization Legally at Risk?

Ask yourself these questions:

Does your organization have a time-based and role-based record retention policy that includes all data enterprisewide?

Does your organization enable employees to manage their own personal (e.g., PST or personal storage table) e-mail database?

Does your organization have an instant messaging policy in place?

Does your organization have legalhold, e-discovery, and data classifi cation responsibilities as part of its new hire orientation?

Is there potential copyright infringement material (i.e., ripped movie clips, music, games) on your organization’s servers?

Do you know what legal responsibilities your organization has regarding the storage and management of business data?

Does your organization depend on native encryption of fi nancial software products for the protection of payment card information?

Is your IT/IS staff aware, educated, and prepared to testify in court on the nature and protection processes of the organization’s data?

If you answered “no” or “I don’t know” to these questions, your organization is at risk.
